Barbara Schmitt a 50 year resident of Severna Park passed away on February 18, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Albany New York on February 8, 1925 to John and Barbara Connolly, who both arrived in the U.S. on the "boat" through Ellis Island from Ireland in the early 1900's.

She enjoyed Boating, Calligraphy as well as baby sitting her grand dog on a daily basis. She is a former Red Hat member and a long time member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, where she served as Flotilla 18 Commander. Former active member of Arundel Plaza Community Association.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary and one brother John, both of New York, as well as her husband of 55 years, George Schmitt. She is survived by one son George (Butch) Schmitt Jr. and her daughter in law Margie Schmitt both of Glen Burnie as well as one granddaughter Shelley Kokalis of Pasadena.

Barbara (Bobbie) was known for her big smile and positive attitude.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Private interment will be in MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
