Barbara Jean Wise Murray, 67, a resident of Severna Park since 1976 and formerly of Cincinnati, died of lung cancer Nov. 25 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born July 20, 1940, in Fairmont, W.Va., Mrs. Murray graduated cum laude from Ohio University and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, an academic honors society, and Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Mrs. Murray was active with local swimming team and for a few years was editor of the Berrywood community newsletter, where she lived.

She was a member of the Sparrows Point Country Club and her interests included cooking, gardening, animals, sports and reading.

Surviving are her husband, Richard William Murray of Severna Park; three sons, Christopher William Murray of Joppa, Md., Jeffrey Charles Murray of Baltimore and Michael Richard Murray of Severna Park; one sister, Carolyn Wise Christensen of Destin, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to noon tomorrow at the Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, where funeral services will follow at noon. Burial is private.
