Barbara K. Mittrick, 79, a longtime resident of West Severna Park died on August 25, 2012 at Genesis Multi Medical Center in Towson, Maryland.
Barbara was born March 12, 1933 in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Marianita Karrer.
Barbara attended Mount de Chantel Visitation Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia graduating in the class of 1951. She continued her education at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA earning degrees in biology and chemistry. She worked as a medical technologist and lab supervisor.
She married the late Ronald K. Mittrick on August 25, 1962. She is survived by three children, Kirsten Mittrick and Kayce Mittrick of Pasadena and Kent Mittrick and his wife Lorraine of Severna Park. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Chris, Kara, Ryan, Kyle, and Caitlin. She was preceded in death by her brother Ed Karrer and his wife Jackie.
Barbara was a sustaining member of The Junior League of Annapolis and the AAUW. She volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels and Partners in Care. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club, traveling, concerts, and crossword puzzles.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park.
