When you are asked by your best friend and wife of over 44 years to help write her obituary the first thing you do is tear up then deny to her that it is needed then realize this tough-as-nails mother of two remarkable daughters and Nanny to 6 even more remarkable grandchildren wouldn't ask you if she didn't think it was necessary. That is just the way she was.
Diagnosed with brain cancer in April 2013 and given 3 to 6 months this wonderful lady defied all odds and woke up smiling every day for 4 years. Following two brain surgeries, radiation treatment and chemotherapy she has been poked and prodded every two months by the remarkable doctors and nurses at University of Maryland Medical Center then Johns Hopkins.
Eldest Daughter of Don and Dawson Bechtold of Severna Park, best friend, then girl friend and wife of Joseph Scott Krajnik of Western, Nebraska, Barbie entered into a nomad's life as the supportive wife of a Navy pilot. She left Severna Park in 1973 for Florida, Texas, Maryland, Florida, California, Seoul Korea, Maryland, Florida, Texas, and finally back to Maryland in 1992 for good.

Her oldest daughter Emily Craig was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, married Doug Craig in 2003 and has two daughters, Aubrey 2004 and Molly 2006 and currently resides in White Hall Maryland. Her youngest daughter Erica AKA Rocket Mules, was born in Monterey, California, married Doug Mules in 2003 (that is correct, I'm Scott and these are my sons-in-law Doug and Doug) and has four children, Arley 2006, Libby 2008, Christian 2010, and Josie 2013 and currently resides in Severna Park.
Her parents, Don and Dawson Bechtold, her sister Jeanie Pallett and her husband Steve, brother Don Bechtold and his wife Randi, her in laws Shary and Lance Wilson, Steve and Natalie Krajnik, Sandy and Wayne Evans and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 14th at 5:00 p.m. at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, with a gathering to follow at the Krajnik home.
