Born on October 15, 1929 in the District of Columbia. Her Mother and Father were Marian Soter Hamilton and Caleb Napoleon Hamilton. She grew up in the D.C. and Bowie area. She worked as a clerk for the federal government for over 10 years. Married Warren H. Higby in 1947. They moved to Belvedere Heights in Arnold in 1953.

Lifelong friends were made from families in the neighborhood. She enjoyed her school days at Maryland Park where she graduated from high school at age 16 and went to work at Social Security Administration. She kept in touch with many friends from her high school days.

Barbara left work in 1953 to begin to raise her family. She enjoyed being a homemaker. One of her greatest joys was to volunteer at Belvedere Elementary School. One school year she volunteered every day.

She enjoyed her hobby of flower arranging making many beautiful arrangements that she gave as gifts. She liked to send cards and notes to friends. She was dedicated to her family enjoying family time with her two children and especially her two Grandsons. She enjoyed visiting with Holly the family pet which held a special place in her heart. Holly could always bring a smile to her face.

The family would like to express its gratitude to Hospice of the Chesapeake for their compassion and care for Mom. In Comforting Arms Assisted Living in Severna Park for giving Mom great care and a very warm environment during her last days. We would like to thank our friends for your tremendous support making this difficult time much easier to deal with. Many thanks to all of you.
