IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara J.
Eckert
September 22, 1943 – August 21, 2025
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our family's matriarch on Thursday morning, August 21, 2025. She was an extraordinary woman who touched countless lives as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend to many.
Barbara J. Eckert was born in Heilbronn, Germany in 1943, to Karl Tost and Gertrude (neé Strauble) Tost. After spending her early years in her homeland, she relocated to the U.S. in 1966, where she has lived ever since.
She lived in Boston, MA, Nassau Bahamas, Orlando FL, Portland, ME, Newport/Tiverton, RI, and Columbus OH, before she moved to Severna Park in 1983.
In Germany she began her career in the medical field by working as a Pediatric nurse and later as a nurse on an ambulance and finishing her career as a Medical Billing manager for Dr. Schmidtlein and Dr. Hackett for 27 years in Severna Park.
Barbara enjoyed reading, watching her grandchildren, spending time with her dog, and Knick knacking. In her earlier years, she was an excellent Home decorator and painter.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Hanns Eckert, their two sons Chris and Hans, daughters-in-law Bethlehem and Katie, and cherished grandkids Chase and Connor Eckert, and the family in Germany.
Her remarkable life was filled with love, laughter, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire us. As we mourn her loss, we take comfort in the memories we shared with her and the impact she had on our lives. Her memory will be a blessing to us all, and we will continue to celebrate her life, love, and legacy.
Family and friends may visit on Friday August 29" from 3:00-7:00pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park MD, 21146.
