Barbara Shapiro Crowne. 71, of Annapolis, MD died on August 2, 2010 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on September 23, 1938 to her parents, Manis and Violet Shapiro in Roanoke, VA. She graduated from high school in Roanoke, VA and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. She earned masters degrees from Bowie State and University of Maryland.

Mrs. Crowne was self-employed as a social worker in Annapolis. She enjoyed fashion, decorating, and cooking.

Mrs. Crowne is survived by three sons, Steven Meisnere of Arnold, MD, Robert Meisnere of Washington, DC and Jeffrey Meisnere of Youngsville, NC, and one daughter, Karen Nast of Hunlock Creek, PA; six step-children, Frank Crowne Jr. of Laurel, Jim Crowne of Bowie, Jeff Crowne of Zurich, Switzerland, Kathy Kuhn of Sterling, VA, Shari Corley of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Greg Crowne of Gainsville, VA;
21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also has one brother, Gordon Shapiro of Roanoke, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph Crowne Sr. and her parents.

Vistation will be from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
