Barbara S. Buxton, 81, of Severna Park, MD died peacefully on December 19, 2014 at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Barbara was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, where she spent the first 20 years of her life. It was here that she met and married John W. Buxton, Jr. Barbara and John first moved to Cleveland, OH, where their two children were born, followed by a move to Severna Park in 1965.

Barbara was extremely devoted to her family and very well loved. She was a long-time member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and painting. She was quick to laugh and had a delightful sense of humor. Most of all, she enjoyed being around her family and close friends from the neighborhood.

Barbara loved being a homemaker and created a wonderfully nurturing environment to raise her two boys. She was an active member of the Severna Park community of Kensington and her house was a meeting place for children and adults alike. Barbara made many lasting friendships during her time in this neighborhood.

She will be sorely missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by sons Joel and Andrew, her sister Lois Krombolz, her daughters-in-law Nancy and Amy, her life-long friend Richard May, and her beloved grandchildren, Rachel, Jay, Grace and Thomas.

Family and friends may gather for a memorial visitation on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 4:00pm during the memorial visitation at the funeral home.
