Audrey Lou Klug (nee Hudson) died at the age of 83 on April 7, 2008 at FutureCare Nursing Home in Arnold, Maryland surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness.
She is survived by her husband George J. Klug of 62 years of marriage, her son Gary Klug and wife Vera of Glen Burnie, MD, daughter Nancy Jo Klug of Charleston, SC, and daughter Marilyn Gallagher and husband Thomas Gallagher of West Chester, PA, and grandchildren Jennifer Ondo and Kristine and Christopher Schaum, and great grandchildren, Madelaina Ondo and Mason Schaum.
Audrey was very artistic, and enjoyed working on projects to decorate her home. She enjoyed sewing & drawing for her family, with special emphasis on selecting the perfect color combination. She took delight in the small details of life, worked crossword puzzles with a pen, played piano, bridge games and bowling with friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor. For many years Audrey wrote and made drawings for the Ulmstead Estates Community Newsletter.
Being the wife of a Naval Officer, Audrey became experienced in moving to another state and quickly putting together a warm and comfortable home. She was truly skilled at finding the perfect fabric to again sew new curtains with matching accessories so each member of the family felt that they were once again home, even if it was a quonset hut or a small brick residence.
Audrey was a beautiful lady of style, grace and dignity. She originally grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and was a newspaper reporter when she met George, a young naval midshipman. That newspaper sent a cameraman with Audrey to capture their romance as it blossomed during the 1945 June Week Celebration in Annapolis, Maryland.
She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She will be missed greatly by all.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.
A memorial mass will be offered on Sat. 1:00 pm at St. Andrew by the Bay Church, Annapolis, MD. Interment will be private.
A reception will be held immediately following the Mass at the Ulmstead Community Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made AACC Foundation, Inc.-Nursing, 101 College Parkway, Administration 116, Arnold, MD 21012, Attn: Linda Pierce.
