Aubrey was born in Wilson, North Carolina on June 22, 1929.  He was the son of Aubrey Bennett Jones and Nettie Wiggins Jones.  Aubrey's family moved to Morehead City, North Carolina where he graduated from high school in 1947. Aubrey then went on to attend Appalachian State in Boone, NC until which time he joined the United States Air Force for the Korean conflict.  He was stationed in Japan.  After serving in the USAF for six years and achieving the rank of tech sergeant, he was hired by the National Security Agency.  At this time, he also enrolled at George Washington University, where he earned a degree in accounting.  For a time, Aubrey taught night classes for GWU in accounting while working days at NSA.   Additionally, he was the proud president of the Lambda chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa.

Aubrey married the love of his life, Annie Lee (nee: Rowell) Jones and they were wed in 1952 in Arlington, Virginia.  After getting their start in Arlington, the couple moved to College Park, Maryland to begin a family.  Aubrey and Annie raised two daughters, Sandra and Courtney.  The family of four would move from College Park, Maryland to Kailua, Hawaii in 1974.  Upon returning from Hawaii in 1977, they settled in Severna Park, Maryland where Aubrey and Annie Lee would live until the time of his death. The couple had recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.

Aubrey is survived by his wife Annie Lee Jones, two daughters, Courtney Ann Szymanski (Jon) and Sandra Lee Platts (Jeff), four grandchildren - Jeffrey Bennett Platts, Harrison Granville Platts, Carter Wright Platts, and Erica Morgan Szymanski - and 15 nieces and nephews.  Aubrey was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Louise Goforth.

Aubrey and Annie Lee were members of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church since 1983.   Aubrey loved his home in his Severna Park community, North Cape Arthur.  Aubrey's hobbies included golf, gardening, card games with friends, boating, and working crossword puzzles.
