Ashari Akelia Jones affectionately called "Queenie" was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica on June 20, 1989. As a child, she attended Savanna la Mar Primary School and Godfrey Stewart High School.

As God would have it, Ashari and her mother, Claudia, had the opportunity to migrate to the United States. On her arrival, she attended Dunbar High School in Washington, DC, where she graduated and then attended Job Corps.

Until the time of her passing, she worked at Prospect Airport Services at BWI Airport, where she held multiple positions. If you were flying on Southwest, you would oftentimes see Queenie in the Airport Lobby waiting for her next assignment.

While her favorite meal was white rice and curry, make no mistakes about it, she loved her Potbelly sandwiches. Her favorite colors were pink and yellow but loving her family was something she did best. One of Queenie's favorite pastimes was following her Jamaican bloggers keeping up with what's happening at home and abroad. Queenie was a very loving person. Her favorite line to her mom was, "You are the best mom ever."

While Queenie is gone, her memories will forever remain in our hearts. We are reminded of Muhammad Ali when he said," Service to others is the rent we pay here on Earth". On January 1, 2024, Queenie received her final receipt marked paid in full and went home to be with the lord.

As the news of Queenie's passing spread, many of her family members and friends wondered or questioned why she had to go at such a young age. It was then we realized that God picked his most beautiful flowers from the garden. While we were not ready for Ashari to depart this life, God saw she was one of his brightest stars here on earth and decided to call her home, showing yet again that only the good die young.

Left to mourn her loss are her mom, Claudia; father, Rupert; aunt Yvonne and Sharon; uncles Paul, Royton, Richard, Courtney, and Michael; cousins Shasha and Machel; Friends Andres and Mama Lucila; and a host of other relatives and friends. We may not Lord thy purpose see, but all is well that's done by thee. Eternal rest grant unto Ashari, oh lord Jesus, and let your perpetual light shine upon her.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday January 21, 2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm with a service to start at 1:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.  Interment will be held in Jamaica W.I. at a later date.
