Arthur Nolan, 58, of Severna Park, MD died peacefully at his home Friday, August 12 after an 18-month battle with brain cancer. Art was born in Norwood, Mass. on May 29, 1953 and lived in Massachusetts for 34 years. He graduated from Dedham High and then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. After serving in the Coast Guard, Art attended MassBay Community College and then the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Upon graduation he was employed by Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) until 1981 when he went to work for Data General in Westborough, MA. In 1987 Art began a career with Motorola and moved with his wife and family to Scottsdale, Ariz. In 1991 he settled with his family in Severna Park where he lived for 20 years. Since arriving in Severna Park, Art has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM and most recently for Serco Inc. as Vice President of their IT Division in Reston, Va. Art was also an active member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church where he taught Bible study and was recently elected a Deacon. In his free time Art enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, RVing and traveling. Art was a member of the Annapolis Power Squadron and Optimist International, and most recently became a member of the Anne Arundel Amateur Radio League, a hobby he had enjoyed since he was a teenager. He was an avid Ravens fan and spent many Sunday afternoons watching them play.

Art was a loving and devoted
husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy, daughters and son-in-laws Erin and Robb Bohannon of Falls Church, Va. and Kelly and Sean Martin of Annapolis, and son and daughter -in-law Patrick and Samantha Nolan of Pasadena, as well as sisters Nancy and Sheila Nolan of Dedham, MA and brothers Steve Nolan of Amherst, N.H. and Bill Nolan of East Bridgewater, Mass. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren.

Art will be remembered for his strong faith, quick wit and bright smile.

Friends may visit on Wednesday August 17, 2011 from 2-4:00pm & 7-9:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday August 18, 2011 at 11:00am in the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church 611 B & A Blvd. Severna Park, MD 21146.
