IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur "Art"
H. Gauthier Ii
March 1, 1954 – November 2, 2022
Arthur H. Gauthier II passed away on November 2, 2022 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family: wife of 38-years, Susan Gauthier; daughter, Melissa Hendricks (husband Artie); son, Scott Gauthier (wife Amanda); daughter, Brianna Griffin (husband John). He is also survived by his sisters Denise Pirone (Pasadena, MD) and Cathie McAllister (Flag Staff, AZ), and his eight amazing grandchildren who were the joy of his life: Everly & Kingston Hendricks; Owen, Wyatt, & Clara Gauthier; and Johnny, Charles, & Landon Griffin. Not to mention an abundance of others who knew and loved him as their "PopPop."
Art was born on March 1, 1954 to the late Sebastiana Rollo & the late Arthur H Gauthier in Ft. Lee, VA. He started his accomplished career in men's clothing at Robinson's in Severna Park, MD. From there he went on to manage at Cohen's Clothiers, was a buyer for Webster's, and went on to NYC where he oversaw the design of high end men's suits. He returned from NYC to marry the love of his life in 1984 and to put down roots in Severna Park where he was able embrace his passion for mentorship and being an entrepreneur. He encouraged and helped his wife to purchase The Cottage, before going on to start, grow, and sell many of his own businesses. After selling Arthur's School Uniforms, he "retired" to work full time helping his son to launch and grow Signature Teamwear and to mentor the rest of his family (and many friends) in their various business endeavors and professional development.
His absolute joy was coaching women's basketball starting with Green Hornets, Waves AAU, and JV/Varsity at St. Mary's High School—and his highest honor: being deemed "Assistant to the Associate Head Coach" at Saint Joe's University. He was a man of many talents: a master chef, a self-taught musician, an accomplished song writer and a prankster with the best sense of humor and most genuine smile. He was the band leader of The Moondogs, who were highly sought after for special events and have toured extensively in Annapolis and Severna Park, MD. His bandmates were his brothers. Art had a unique gift for making friends wherever he went and making everyone feel like family. Art was a member of Severna Park United Methodist Church, and was a part of organizing the original church praise band "Lost and Found".
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 10:30am at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Rd, Severna Park, MD 21146 with a reception to follow.
