Arthur Butts Jr.

Arthur U. Butts Jr., 71, of Severna Park, died of leukemia Oct. 27 at University Hospital in Baltimore after a three-year illness.

Born Feb. 27, 1934, and reared in Baltimore, Mr. Butts had worked in construction as a refined steam fitter for Local 486 since 1952.

He was a member of the Sportsman Deer and Duck Hunting Club.

Surviving are his wife, Marie B. Butts; four daughters, Gail Downey of Milford, N.H., Vicky Sylvester of Crofton, Judy O'Conner of Pasadena and Penny King of Denton, Del.; one sister, Betty Lou Jackson of Homestead, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Maryland, 8600 LaSalle Road, Chester Building, Suite 314, Towson, MD 21286.
