IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antonia "Toni"
N. Schell
January 30, 1953 – February 1, 2017
Antonia Natale Schell, aged 64 and longtime resident of Shipley's Choice, passed away surrounded by her husband and children at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Wednesday February 1 st .
She was born on January 30, 1953 to Ralph Natale and Jane Natale and grew up alongside her three younger siblings in Hunt Valley, MD. She graduated from Dulaney High School and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, after which she worked for 26 years as a dental hygienist in Anne Arundel County. She met her husband Tom in 1980 and they married in 1981. Toni and Tom began their marriage with modest means but a lot of love. Toni worked part time and took the lead parent role, enabling Tom to buy his company, grow the business, and give their family all the advantages life had to offer. They bought a home in 1987 where they would raise their three children and spend all but the last 5 months of their married life. In 2001 they realized their dream of owning a beach house on Maryland's Eastern Shore. With Tom's support, Toni was able to retire from dental hygiene in 2005.
Toni loved taking trips to the beach, making memories during the holidays, and hosting family gatherings throughout the year. For such a small person, she had an outsize role in the lives of the people she loved. She was always ready to help family, friends and neighbors who were in need. She was a doting mother to several dogs over the years – including Evers, and two rescue dogs, Winston and Finn. Toni had developed a strong bond with her one-year old granddaughter Josephine, who knew her as "Nona." Her children were her proudest accomplishment and her greatest joy in life – with cake coming in a close second.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Natale.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Tom Schell, her daughter Allison Maiwurm (husband Chris), her son Ryan Schell (wife Charlotte), her son Jason Schell, and her granddaughter Josephine Schell. She is also survived by her mother, Jane Kaelber (husband Ted), her sister Victoria Natale, her sister Christina Woodland (husband John), her brother Ralph Natale, her half-brother Stephen Natale (wife Marilyn), her uncle Anthony Natale, her uncle Robert Natale, her uncle Michael Natale, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday February 11th, 2017 from 1pm-2pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A memorial service will be held at 2pm, immediately following the visitation. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Humane Society or Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
