Anthony Charles Sudol Jr. (CTRCS Ret.), 78, passed away, with family by his side, June 3 in Annapolis, MD after a long illness. Anthony was born to the late Anthony Charles Sudol Sr. and Dolores Gatto March 30, 1936 in Port Chester, NY. Raised in upstate New York, Anthony attended, was a member of both the wrestling and gymnastics teams and graduated from Cobleskill High School (NY).
Anthony went on to a distinguished career serving 22+ years in the United States Navy, within the Communications Group, retiring in 1975 and relocating to Severna Park where he resided until his passing. Naval tours of duty included Japan, Kwajalien, Turkey, Maine, Morocco, Germany, Maryland, Philippines, serving in the Vietnam War on the USS Ranger, USS Kitty Hawk, USS Constellation, USS America, USS Enterprise, USS Long Beach, USS Newport News and other ships as part of the 7th Fleet, Taiwan and Maryland a second time. Upon his retirement, Anthony joined Bendix Field Engineering Corp., later Allied-Signal, before finally retiring in 1994.
In his post-retirement years, Anthony enjoyed spending time researching his family history, travelling to Turkey collecting antique rugs and, in his later years, collecting Carnival glass.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 54+ years Sebahat Sudol, three sons (Anthony, Richard & Michael), one daughter in-law (Denise), eight grandchildren (Michelle, Chas, Michael, Gunner, Connor, Airiana, Eliza & Sophia) and three great-grandchildren (Taylor, Tyler & Lily).
Family and friends may visit at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park, Monday June 9 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a memorial service Tuesday June 10 at 11am at the funeral home.
Interment with Military Honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 10am on Wednesday, September 10th, family and friends should gather at Arlington's Administration building at 9am.
