Anne McDowell Young, 80, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, April 25, 2026.

She was born November 16,1945 in Chicago, Illinois and adopted by her loving parents Carl and Bunny McDowell. She is proceeded in death by her cherished husband Richard “Mack” Young and beloved daughter Tori Selimis. Survivors include her brother Walt McDowell of San Antonio, Texas, her son Robin Young and his wife Bess Clark of Severna Park, Maryland, their combined children Shelby, Riley, Cullen, Henry, and Elliott, her son-in-law Nick Selimis of Woodbine, Maryland, and his children Lex and Olive.

Anne Young grew up in Bronxville, New York and lived in California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Hawaii, and then resettled in Maryland to spend more time with her grandchildren.

She always had a kind word and smile and never took herself too seriously. Her whole life was filled with acts of service and love. She was a homemaker and devoted herself to raising her children and husband. She volunteered extensively, taught logic at Oak Hill Elementary and was active in PTA and Sports Boosters for Old Mill and ran the concession stands for all sports for many years. Anne was a founding Volunteer Leader of the Pacesetters 4-H Club and taught crafts at Anne Arundel County 4-H camp for over 10 years. She also found time to support the County Extension Teen Leader program and helped coordinate exchanges across the country. After her children were grown she worked for Pets on Wheels for a number of years providing care and love to area seniors and then as a customer service agent at the BWI international terminal.

She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Mack and was able to experience vacations to all seven continents. She loved to make new friends from around the world and was always excited to share her experiences and photos from their adventures. She was always looking for their next cruise/tour destination to bring back unique artwork and collections from around the world.
