Anne Thrower, wife, mother, Nanny, sister, and friend passed away peacefully December 21, 2022, at the age of 77 years old. Anne was born October 12, 1945, in Edinburgh, Scotland to Andrew and Hannah Hoy. They lived on 7 Milton Street until her parents and her brother Andy immigrated to the United States of America in 1955 when Anne was just nine years old.

After graduating high school, Anne started a career as an x-ray technician at Washington Hospital Center, eventually working for a large orthopedic practice and being promoted to assistant office manager. Anne was loved by her colleagues at all levels throughout the practice, staying at this position for the next 25 years. She ended her career the last 10 years as an office manager for a single physician practice before retiring in 2013.

Anne met her husband Dennis in 1961 at the Northwest Park Apartments in Silver Spring MD. High School sweethearts, marrying in 1969 and celebrated 52 years of love with each other. They raised 2 children, David and Kimberly. Anne's "precious angel", Kendall, was born in 2003. Anne was there the moment Kendall came into the world and she would forever be Kendall's "Nanny."

Travel was one of Anne's passions. She has been all over the world with family and friends. From the mountains of western Canada; to the vineyards in Tuscany; to the great barrier reef in Australia.

She was also an avid sports fan. She could always be found watching and rooting for the Washington Redskins, the Washington Capitals, and her favorite, the Baltimore Orioles.

Anne is preceded in death by her husband Dennis and her parents Andrew and Hannah. She is survived by her son David Thrower and his wife Shannon; daughter Kimberly Christensen and her husband Derek; granddaughter Kendall Miller; brother Andrew Hoy and his wife Bridget; sister-in-law Mary Jo Forsythe; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

All should be comforted knowing Anne will be waiting to greet us one day with a glass of champagne in hand.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday December 29, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A memorial service will be held on Friday December 30, 2022 at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed on this obituary page.
