Anne Louise Shockey (nee Thompson), 96, of Severna Park, MD passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2025.  She is now spending eternity in Heaven with Jesus, whom she worshipped her whole life.  Anne was born in Overlea, Md on August 22, 1928 to Anne Rozel Baker Thompson and Allan Charles Thompson, Sr.  In her early years she lived in the Govans section of Baltimore, MD, then moved to Severna Park, MD where she attended Severna Park Elementary School and Annapolis High School, graduating in 1946.  Anne then attended Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) where in 1950 she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics, minoring in Education.  In August of 1950 she accepted a teaching job with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, teaching Home Economics at George Fox Junior High School in Pasadena, MD.  At the same time she married the love of her life, Merle Walter Shockey, Jr.  They enjoyed 28 wonderful years of marriage until Walter's passing in 1978.

Anne loved children and was a Sunday School teacher, a Cub Scout den leader, and in the 1980's and early '90's a pre-Kindergarten teacher at both Woods Memorial and Asbury Methodist Child Development Centers.  She was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold, MD and her faith was very important to her.  Anne had many talents, including sewing, painting and gardening.  With affection for all animals (except snakes!), she especially loved cats and had many feline loves throughout her life.  In the twilight of life she lived the past 23 years with daughter, Laura, and grandson, Chris.

In addition to her husband and parents, Anne is preceded in death by her brother, Allan Charles Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Jane Thompson, brothers-in-law Edward Shockey and Steve Wigley.  She is survived by daughter Laura Shockey of Severna Park, MD, sons Neal (Nancy) Shockey of Severna Park, MD and Bob Shockey of The Villages, FL, sister Mary Ellen Wigley of Holly Ridge, NC, sister-in-law Georgia Shockey of Severna Park, MD, four grandchildren Jason (Olivia) Shockey, Kirt (Jennifer) Shockey, Chris Grabowski, and Sandy (Tim) Kamas, seven great-grandchildren Karlie, Molly, Audrey and Willamina Shockey, and Annie, Jeremy and Nick Kamas, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anne will be remembered by all who knew her as a sweet, kind, gentle lady. The family agrees she was the best mom, grandmom, great-grandmom, sister, and aunt a person could ever have.  In keeping with Anne's wishes, an interment service will be private.
