Anne Elizabeth
Majer
February 7, 1963 – May 5, 2026
Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A.
2:00 - 6:00 pm (Eastern time)
Anne Elizabeth Majer passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, following a courageous battle with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on February 7, 1963, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Margo (neé Mase) and James Majer, Anne’s journey took her to many places, though her heart always remained in California. A natural athlete and adventurer, she earned her scuba diving certification shortly after high school. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start a boat-detailing business in Annapolis and, later, to own and operate a successful daycare for many years.
Anne eventually took to the skies as a flight attendant for U.S. Airways, later retiring from American Airlines. Beyond her professional life, she was a proficient speaker of American Sign Language and a dedicated community volunteer. Her commitment to God was reflected in her active involvement with various churches.
A lifelong lover of the arts, Anne expressed her vibrant spirit through painting and recording her own music. Above all, she was known for her profound compassion and the selfless love she offered to everyone she met.
Anne was preceded in death by her son, Richard Paul McLaughlin II; her brothers, “Teddy” and Brian Thiele; and her parents, Margo Thiele and James Majer.
She is survived by her children, Erin McLaughlin (Sean) and Ryan Shields (Micheline); her sister, Mary Majer; and her brothers, Michael Majer, John Majer, Kevin Thiele, DJ Thiele, Erik Thiele, Christian Majer, and James Majer. She is also survived by her step-father, Captain Edwin Thiele (husband of the late Margo Thiele), and her step-mother, Rosemary Majer (wife of the late James Majer), as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren and her extended family.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory may be made to BridgingLife Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, MD 21157
Interment will be private.
