Anna Margaret Yrttimaa, 97, of Arnold, MD passed away peacefully on March 25, 2019. She was born September 13, 1921 to Anna Albertina (Lahtinen) Erickson, who immigrated from Finland as a governess by way of Ellis Island, NY in 1909, and Eskil Reinhold Erickson, who immigrated from Sweden to Baltimore in 1915. Margaret was raised in Baltimore, MD. Margaret attended Patterson Park High School, then Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, then 3 years at Strayers Business College to be a head secretary.

After finishing school, she worked at Glenn L. Martin Co., Samuel Kirk & Sons, and finally Plywood Millwork Co. of MD where she worked until she had children. Margaret and Ray moved to Arnold, MD in 1958 where they built a house and raised their family. She lived there until less than a year ago, at which time she went to Cranberry Cottage assisted living home.

Margaret was a founding member of Our Shephard Lutheran Church in Severna Park, MD where she served many years as a kindergarten and bible school teacher and was an active member of the church women's groups. She also belonged to the Finlandia Foundation of Baltimore and Sveaborg Society of Maryland. Margaret was an active PTA Mom and substitute teacher while her children were young. She was in a duckpin bowling league, which she enjoyed for many years. She also enjoyed piano, organ, violin, oil and watercolor painting, gardening, dancing, and her 6 grandchildren. When her children were older she worked at Hutzler's Department Store.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Raymond E. Yrttimaa, and sister Eleanor "Tootsie" Seltzer of Baltimore, MD. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Yrttimaa Levin (Glenn) of Arnold, MD and M. Christine Price (Ben) of Aiken, SC, her grandchildren, Erik Levin (Jessica), Kara Levin, Gunnar Price, August Price, Victor Price, and Hannah Price, and cousin Ata Hautamaki Lahtinen and family of Helsinki, Finland.

A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday March 30, 2019 from 10:00am - 11:00am with a Memorial service to start at 11:00am in the Barranco & Sons,P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Internment to follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery Baltimore, MD.
