Anna H. Peters, 72, of Arnold passed away suddenly at John Hopkins Hospital on March 5, 2008.
Born on January 3, 1936 and raised in the Highland Park area of Baltimore, Mrs. Peters was the daughter of the late Fred and Ethel Amend and a graduate of Patterson Park High School.
May 4, 1962, she married Charles H. Peters, Jr. who passed away in 2004. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Peters worked as a bookkeeper for the former Baltimore Envelope Company.
She and her husband were among the first residents of Ulmstead Estates and both were founding members of Ulmstead Club, Inc. Mrs. Peters served the organization in many capacities including Treasurer, Adult Social Committee Chair, Equestrian Department Manager, and Newsletter Distribution Committee. She also was active in UCI's swim and tennis clubs. She was recognized as the community's Volunteer of the Year in 2004 and remained active in the organization until her death.
Mrs. Peters was an accomplished bridge player and played in the Ulmstead Wednesday Night Bridge Group for over 30 years. Additionally, she enjoyed bowling and bowled on the Tuesday Ladies League in Severna Park and for the CCRB League for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her yard, and reading.
She was the devoted mother of Charles (Chip) H. Peters III of Fells Point and Cynthia Peters Muse of Virginia, and loving grandmother of twin grandsons, Chase and Austin Muse. In addition, she is survived by three step-sons: Charles (Corky) Peters of Glen Burnie, David Peters of North Carolina and Thomas Peters of Oregon. Other survivors include one brother, Donald Amend of Owings Mills, five step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 2 pm -3 pm with a memorial service following at 3 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403 or to one's favorite charity.
