Ann H. Holland, 72, of Columbia, died of cancer Nov. 6 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park after a lengthy illness.
Born April 24, 1934, in Bedford, Va., Mrs. Holland moved to western North Carolina at age 13, and graduated from Montreat High School. In 1955 she graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, N.C., where she received a registered nurse degree.
Mrs. Holland retired in 2006. She had worked in the health room at Oakland Mills High School, Thunder Hill Elementary School and Bryant Woods Elementary School, all in Columbia
Her interests included reading and children.
In 1955, she married Bruce Bishop Holland, who died in 1995. She was the sister of the late Virginia Harris.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Holland of Severna Park and Michael S. Holland of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; one daughter, Elizabeth Simmons of Ashburn, Va.; one brother, Roger Harris of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park. Burial is private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
