Ann Fisher Walter, 83, a longtime resident of Arnold, passed away at her home on December 25, 2017.

Ann was born to her parents, Leland and Amy Fisher on July 25, 1934 in Akron, OH, where she was raised.  Throughout her life she lived in Des Moines, IA, Chester, VA and Severna Park prior to moving to Arnold in 1978.  She attended Iowa State University, Iowa University, University of Maryland and Loyola University of Maryland.  Ann earned her Master's in Education and was most recently a principal of Cape St. Claire Elementary School. She taught for thirty years.

She was a member of the Maryland State Teacher's Association and the Retired Teacher's Association. Ann enjoyed traveling, walking and her dogs.

Ann is survived by her husband of forty years, John S. Walter; her daughter, Susan Oster of MD; her son, John Dirk Sternad of MD; her brother, Robert Fisher of FL; her stepdaughter, Claudia Teague of TX, her stepsons, Jeffrey Walter of CT, Phillip Walter of IN, and Kenneth Walter of HI, as well as, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy.  A brief reflection will be offered by Sally Schley around 7:00 p.m.  The interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Online condolences may be made at www.barrancofuneralhome.com
