Angelica McCarthy, 80, a resident of Severna Park, died of cancer February 11 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mrs. McCarthy was born January 27, 1928, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She previously lived in Washington, D.C. and Lanham before moving to Severna Park in 1974.

She was a homemaker who was known as a great cook. She enjoyed decorating, shopping for shoes, and spending time with her wonderful friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. McCarthy, Sr. who died on February 3, 2001.

Survivors include one son, John J. McCarthy, Jr. of Glen Burnie, MD; two daughters, Patricia McCarthy O'Neill Hays of Annapolis, MD and Elizabeth McCarthy Kornides of Greensburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Tara, Daniel, Johnny, Eric, William, Angelica, Devin, Alexandra, and Madison, and two great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22 at Barranco & Sons Severna Park Funeral Home. A memorial service with be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment is private.
