Cmdr. USNR (Retired) Andrew Lee Habermacher, 93, a resident of Severna Park, died of natural causes at his home on June 23, 2008.

Mr. Habermacher was born on November 24, 1914 in Cleburne, Texas. He was also a resident of Kingsville, Texas; Corpus Christi, Texas; Millington, Tennessee; Oxnard, California; Springfield, Virginia; and Abington, Pennsylvania for 50 years, before moving to Severna Park in May 2006.

He served 20 years in the US Navy as an officer and 10 years as a Civil Service Administrator.

He attended the Abington Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Masons. He also entered the US. Navy Reserves on active duty in 1942 as a Lieutenant and Junior Grade. Mr. Habermacher also served on the USS Thetis Bay (Carrier) in the Pacific Theatre during WW II.

Survivors include his son, Andrew L. Habermacher, Jr. of Crofton, MD; two grandchildren, Geoffrey M. Habermacher and Gretchen Groebel, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Grace Habermacher and his son, Michael E. Habermacher.

Services will be private. An interment will take place at Abington Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania at a later date.
