Andrea M.
Binkley
January 17, 1934 – February 15, 2026
Andrea M. Binkley passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at home surrounded by her family as she wanted.
Andrea was born in London, England, January 17, 1934. While most of her life was spent in the US, she remained a loyal subject to her homeland. She went by many names: Andi to friends and co-workers, Mom to her daughters, Mumsie to the many midshipmen which she and her husband, Howard, sponsored, Gar to her grandsons and The Queen to many close family friends.
Andrea was preceded by Howard Binkley, Maj. Retd, her husband of 65 years. They raised two daughters, Leslie Binkley of Ocean Pines, MD and Janice Binkley-Cole of Millersville, MD. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Alec Cole (Becher) and Tristan Cole.
Andrea attended St Mary's Nursing School in London, then transitioned to teaching after she married Howard. During Howard’s career, they lived in Munich and Heidelberg Germany, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and Willingboro, New Jersey before finally settling in Millersville, MD.
Andrea received her BA in Education from Bowie State College in the 1980's. After graduating she taught at several area schools before joining Chesapeake Academy where she was head of the preschool and taught for many years. She retired 1995.
Andrea's home reflected her dearest interests. She was a voracious reader as evidenced by the many books in her home. She also enjoyed welcoming and entertaining friends in her home. She enjoyed sharing the history of Annapolis particularly as a docent at the William Paca House. She frequently took visitors downtown to enjoy walking the cobbled streets and eating crabs for dinner! Her love of antiquing and attending auctions led her to open a small shop with two friends.
Because of Andi's love to travel, there were many family trips to Great Britain. In addition, she and Howard traveled to visit their sponsored midshipmen and their families that were stationed in the Middle and Far East and other closer destinations in the USA. Andrea never failed to take advantage of a new adventure whether near or far.
A memorial service is planned for the Spring with internment at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. Details to be announced.
