On June 27, 2014, Alvis Vincent Melchior, 84, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer in Baltimore, Maryland.
Devoted husband of 51 years to the late Kizzie I. Melchior (Nee Murphy); beloved father of Ron Melchior and his wife Karen, Nina Ratcliff and her husband Bruce, Susan McCann, Don Melchior and his wife Shelly, and Cathy Buckwalter and her husband Chris; dear brother of Jackie Hennegan and the late William Melchior, Anna Jean Haggard, and Oletamae Deever; adored grandfather of sixteen; loving great-grandfather of one, and caring companion of Nancy Southerland.
Vincent was born March 18, 1930 in Dallas, Texas. An All-American athlete at Southern Methodist University, he graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Severna Park in 1969. He retired from Poole & Kent Corp in Baltimore. US Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Wasp (CV7) during the Korean War as an air crewman.
The family will receive visitors at Barranco & Sons P.A Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park from 4-7 pm on Monday, June 30, 2014. A graveside service will be held on July 7, 2014 at 2 pm at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Rusk County, Texas.
