Alvira Brosius-Gille (nee Wilson) died peacefully at Sunrise of Severna Park on Monday, November 24, 2014. She was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 9, 1919 to Herbert and May Wilson. Alvira graduated from Dickinson High School, and later earned her teaching degree from Jersey City State Teachers College. She taught the third grade at Robert Waters Elementary School in Union City, NJ for 35 years.

In 1939, Alvira married the Rev. Dr. Samuel B. Brosius, pastor of All Souls Lutheran Church in Jersey City. Alvira took an active role in the church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and a was member of the Ladies Aid Society.

After the passing of Rev. Brosius in 1974, Alvira married Hugo (Ed) Gille in 1982.

Alvira was preceded in death by the Rev. Brosius, Hugo Gille, her daughter, Linda W. Theune, and her sister Helen W. Grossman.
She is survived by her son, Samuel Bert Brosius and his wife Marge, of Pasadena, MD; Grandchildren Christopher Theune (Susan), Kimberly Valentino (Joseph), Amy Gallagher (Michael) and Dawn Swierczewski (Michael) and Great Grandchildren Cody and Shelby Chassereau, William Theune, Sophia and Joseph Valentino.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park.

A service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:00am at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 W Maple Road, Linthicum, MD.
