Alverta E. Carter Saia, 90, a resident of Annapolis for 30 years and formerly of Baltimore, died of natural causes Nov. 17 at home.

Born Aug. 18, 1916, in Baltimore, where she was reared, Mrs. Saia graduated from Western High School.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking.

On Jan. 6, 1935, she married Louis J. Saia, who died Aug. 28, 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Alverta Hester of Monkton and Josephine Gardner of Annapolis; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment will follow in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
