Listen to Obituary
Alma Mercedes (Thornton) Suter, 85, a resident of Pasadena, passed away on May 13, 2016 at Future Care Chesapeake in Arnold, due to lung cancer.

She was born on December 13, 1930 in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she was raised. She previously lived in Arnold, MD; San Jose, CA; Rowland Heights, CA; Evansville, IN; and Biloxi, MS.
Alma was a nursing student, housewife/homemaker, mother of four children, and an antique dealer.

During her life, Alma enjoyed Dixie Land and Hawaiian music played so loud, the walls would shake! She enjoyed antique hunting, fishing, boating and camping with her family. She was politically active with both parties, it was about the candidate, not the Party. She was an avid animal lover who could not turn her back on an injured animal from birds to cats… even snakes! But most of all Alma enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Earl Suter; her parents, Ivon W. Thornton and Sarah M. Strong Thornton; and siblings, Amelia Koenes and James Thornton.

She is survived by her children, Raymond Kent Suter (D'Aun) of Inyokern, CA; Rickie Lynn Suter (Linda) of Sunnyvale, CA; Karen Kay Suter-Brady (Libby) of Spring Valley, CA; and Judith Anne Suter-Nelson (Gary) of Pasadena, MD; sister, Beverly Huffstetter of Biloxi, MS; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm (Pacific time) at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Drawing Room Chapel in San Jose, California. Interment in Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7500 Greenway Center Drive, Suite 300, Greenbelt, MD 20770, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
