IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice "Rowena"
Stewart
February 11, 1936 – May 3, 2025
Alice "Rowena" Stewart lived a life full of grace and devotion to her family, faith, and friends. Born February 11, 1936, in Pomona, CA, to LeRoy and Thelma Johnston, she went on to have four children whom she adored. Ronald Gupton (Edie), Cindy Johnson, Stephen Stewart (Kim), and Glenda Paxton (Mark).
She was a grandma to Sheri Gupton, Patrick McKeon, Matthew McKeon, Katelyn Waterhouse, Heather Pikul (Tom), Noah Stewart, Jonah Stewart, Erin Paxton, Kevin Paxton, and Alexandra Paxton. She was also a great-grandmother to Ethan McKeon, Gavin McKeon, Bridget Waterhouse, Sullivan Waterhouse, Logan Waterhouse, Finnegan Waterhouse, Faye Pikul, and Isaac Pikul.
Rowena worked as a hair stylist, a realtor, and, in her later years, a caregiver. She continued taking care of others until 2020, which is a testament to how she lived her life—others first. She always referred to herself as a native Californian, but she lived the last 46 years here in Maryland. Most recently, she lived at Brightview in Severna Park, where she was affectionately known as RoRo and where she shared her infectious laugh and bear hugs with all.
She was preceded in death by Allen Gupton (her second husband), Glen Stewart (her third husband), Stacy Gupton (granddaughter), and her sister, Dolores Ferguson.
A visitation will be held at Barranco Funeral Home in Severna Park from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8. The following day a funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Area Community Church in Annapolis, and a repast will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Wreaths Across America. Donations can be made through this link: https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/pages/186130 .
Rowena's final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery alongside Glen.
