Algerie Rae was born in Baltimore on July 11, 1946, the youngest of two children to Algerie Rae Hoyer Kelley and William Louis Kelley.  She grew up in Morrell Park, and graduated from Southern High School in Federal Hill in 1964.

Algerie met her true love, Buddy, when they were both teenagers hanging out at the typical 1960's neighborhood place.  After a four-year courtship, they married on February 14, 1965.  They resided in Severn, then moved to Severna Park in 1971, where she lived until December 19, 2021.

Algerie worked as a candy striper and in medical records for St. Agnes Hospital, as well as Baltimore Paint & Chemical prior to welcoming children.  She returned to work for Sherwin-Williams Paint at the same plant in the late 1970's and retired after 28 years of dedicated service.

Algerie and Bud were passionate about dancing.  She had moves from her days as a majorette and Bud just had his own moves.  They started country line dancing with the "Countryside Kickers" in 1994 and traveled all over Maryland enjoying different venues and making many friends.

Algerie was a team member for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of A.A. County, an active supporter of the S.P.C.A., dog rescue groups, and was quick to help in any capacity when a need arose.

Algerie loved anything that her children or grandchildren participated in, especially sports.  You could always find her on the sidelines cheering on their teams and encouraging them after the games with Slurpee's or an ice cream treat.  She was known as "Mommom" to all the teammates, coaches and adults.

Algerie knew the Lord Jesus and was comforted by the promise Jesus Christ gives of eternal life. She was thankful everyday even in the suffering for the wonderful life that God had given her.  Her family finds comfort and joy in knowing that she is in heavenly peace.

Algerie was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, but also cherished "one on one" time with each as well, especially as her grandchildren grew and went away for college or a job. She is survived by four children; Melanie (Chip) Nagel, Bill Eckart, Michele Nwuli, and Michael (Michelle) Eckart.  She was adored by nine grandchildren; Brooks, Ally, Carter, Kendall and Chloe Nagel, Zachary Eckart, Eldrick and Sydney Nwuli, Caleb Eckart and one devoted black lab, Shadow. Her loving husband, Buddy preceded her in death in March of 2009. Her father, mother, brother and step-father preceded her many years earlier in death.

"Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!" Revelation 14:12-13
