Alfred "Bud" A. Reed, 85, a resident of Arnold, died on June 30, 2013 at Annapolitan Assisted Living in Annapolis, MD.
He was born on August 11, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN, to his late parents, Robert G. Reed Sr. and Ruth Settle Reed, where he was raised, and graduated from Thomas Carr High School in 1945 where he excelled in track and field. He attended Wooster College in Wooster Ohio and 7 years of night school at Purdue University - Indianapolis. Al entered the U.S. Army in 1945, and then was called upon again to serve during the Korean Conflict in 1950.
Al was a Sales Engineer for Anning -Johnson in Indianapolis; a Sales Manager for Architectural Systems; worked for Roper Eastern Corporation in Baltimore; and was a Regional Sales Manager for Chicago Metallic Corporation in Baltimore, MD retiring in 1993.
In his retirement he was a Representative for Sonny Scaffolds and worked as a Ranger at Bay Hills Golf Course.
Al was an active member of Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He also sang in the Church Choir.
His hobbies included golfing and he was a sports car enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Robert G. Reed, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julia Ann Reed (nee Harbert); his son, Bruce Reed and his wife, Melanie Scheetz of St. Louis, MO; one granddaughter, Jonay Reed; one grandson, Joseph Reed; and one sister, Mary Jo Wells and her husband, Clayton of Mason, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11am at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church, 1281 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis, MD 21409. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church.
