Aldean Barnette Kosky, 84, a resident of Severna Park, died of heart failure Feb. 18 in her home after a brief illness.
Mrs. Kosky was born July 26, 1923, in Elizabeth City, N.C., and was raised on Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. After her marriage, she traveled extensively with her husband, settling in Severna Park in 1970.
She was an elementary school teacher in Baltimore before raising her family, which was her passion. When her children were grown, she received her real estate license in 1974 and worked with the Long and Foster Severna Park Office for the past 18 years.
Mrs. Kosky was an avid reader and enjoyed spending summers with her family at Cape Hatteras.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susie Albert, who died in 2002.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Kosky; two sons, Greg Kosky of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Michael Kosky of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Marcie Stephenson of Severna Park; two brothers, Milton Barnette of Farmville, N.C., and Eldon Barnette of Buckston, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelical Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Interment is private.
