Albert David Pobiak, 92, of Severna Park, MD passed away on December 11, 2018.
Al was born to Pauline (nee Varos) and John Pobiak, on June, 24, 1926 in Harwick, PA. He was raised in Springfield, PA.
Al was the owner of Pobiak Inc. Realtors in Bethesda, MD and former president of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors.
Al was an army veteran of World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Maryland. During this time, he also played baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics and Washington Senator's systems.
From high school on, he excelled at sports whether it was basketball, football or baseball. He also discovered a lifelong passion for golf. He was a member of Congressional CC and played in numerous Maryland State and Mid-Atlantic tournaments. He scored an amazing total of 4 hole-in-ones and saved the best for last by scoring a hole-in-one at the age of 80 while winning the bronze medal in the National Senior Olympics.
Over the years, most of the family's time was spent living at their homes in the Bethesda-Potomac, MD area. They also spent many enjoyable summers at their cottage in Sherwood Forest, MD, and Al's later years in Annapolis and Severna Park, MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pobiak and Pauline Varos Pobiak; his brother's George Pobiak and Rudolph Pobiak.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Anne Tiffey Pobiak; his son, Bernard Pobiak of College Park, MD; his son, John Pobiak of Potomac, MD; his son, David Pobiak of N. Miami Beach, FL; his son Paul Pobiak of Severna Park, MD; his brother, Joseph Pobiak of Springdale, PA; his brother, Edward Pobiak of Palm Coast, FL; his brother Henry Pobiak of Springdale, PA; and his grandchildren, Patrick David Pobiak, William Mitchell Pobiak, John-Paul Pobiak and Grace Isabel Pobiak.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD 21108. The interment will follow the mass and will take place at Our Lady of the Fields Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD 21108.
