Albert Maywood Martin, 80 of Selbyville, DE died in his home May 23 after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Martin, a previous resident of Glen Burnie, MD for 54 years was born on April 5th, 1929 in Hurricane, WV. He graduated from Hurricane High School in 1947. He was a policeman in St. Albans WV until entering the Army and serving during the Korean War. Following his Army service he worked 25 years for Food Fair as a meat cutter. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, gardening, hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.
Mr. Martin and his wife moved to Selbyville, DE in 2007 to be closer to the beach.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry Fleming Martin and Zola Petrie and three sisters Moselle Herbert, Cozetta Dunlap, Opal Schwallenberg and one brother Roy Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Grace M. Martin, his daughter Carol A. Lacher, son-in-law Gerald W. Lacher and two grandchildren; Matthew G. Lacher and Jessica G. Lacher.
A memorial service will be held Friday May 29th at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home at 1pm. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society.
