Albert "Al" Wayne Griffith, 65, a 35 year resident of Severna Park, MD, died on November 28, 2009 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, due to a
2- year chronic illness.

He was born on January 01, 1944 in Washington, DC and raised in VA, DC, and MD. He married Sarah Webb on September 11, 1976.

Mr. Griffith was employed with the Anne Arundel County Schools, worked as a Journeyman Printer, Electrician, ATP Pilot & Flight Instructor, worked in Electric Motor Sales, and was a Home Improvement Business Owner for 10 years prior to retirement in 2000, due to illness.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, teaching, and foreign travel. Al lived large.

He was preceded in death by his late parents, Martin V. Griffith, Sr. and Katharine N. Griffith and his late brother, Martin V. Griffith, Jr..

Survivors include his wife, Sarah E. Griffith of Severna Park; his children, Karen Thompson of Huntingtown, MD, Krystdevon Blues of Alva, FL, Catherine Ray of Edgewater, MD, Jennifer Carrita of Swansea, MA and Alan Dove of Longmeadow, MA; three brothers, John R. Griffith of Seaford, DE, George E. Griffith of Suffolk, VA and Charles R. Griffith of Orlando, FL; one sister, Mary L. Brierly of Cordova, MD; and fourteen grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, December 02, 2009 from 6 pm -8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, December 03, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Church, 5976 Old Washington Road in Elkridge, MD. Interment will be in MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Augustine's Church. 5976 Old Washington Road, Elkridge, MD 21075 or to St. Jude, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
