John F. Howell, 91, of Severna Park, MD passed peacefully to the Lord on May 19, 2018 surrounded by family who loved him very much.

John was born on August 9, 1926, and raised in New York City.  Mr. Howell graduated from Forest Hills High School and New York University, where he was an All Star basketball player. During World War II he served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946 receiving three medals of honor.

John worked as a Sales Manager with SCM Chemical in Baltimore, Maryland. He and his wife Peg were founders of many businesses which they managed with the family.  John also was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball, basketball, tennis and football.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, the former Margaret "Peggy" Mary O'Keefe.  He is also predeceased by his adoring daughter Helene M. Hoshall.  He is survived by two sons, John F. Howell, Jr. of Houston, TX and Thomas B. Howell, Sr. of Severna Park, MD, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11am in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. There will be a wonderful Celebration of Life immediately following the Mass. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veteran Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
