Gladys Louise Boothe Rogers 85, of Millersville, MD passed away after complications of a stroke on Friday December 28, 2012. Gladys was born on November 6, 1927 to John Wesley and Edith Eugenia Samuels Booth in Lottsburg, VA.
Gladys completed 2 years in the Cadet Nurses Corp during WWII before marrying in 1947. After her marriage she worked for the telephone company and in retail for many years but her most favorite and rewarding career was that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Gladys also loved to garden, sew and was an avid reader. She enjoyed writing notes to her friends and family just to let them know she was thinking of them. She was a member of Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church in Millersville, MD, where she spent many countless hours working in various different capacities within the church. She served on the Board of Trustees, the Worship Committee and was also a member of the Rachel Circle for many years as well as being one of the Wedding Coordinators.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, James Rogers Jr. (Ida) of Glen Burnie, MD, Kathy Louise Ferrara (Jim) of Rockville, MD and Michael Rogers (Chrissy) of Glen Burnie, MD. She is also survived by her grandson, Mickey Rogers (Marc Young) of Long Island, NY, granddaughters, Heather Rogers of Winter Haven FL, Crystal Rogers of Glen Burnie, MD and their mother Renea Rogers of Winter Haven, FL. Gladys had three step grandchildren, Katie, Zach and Rachel Myers, one great granddaughter, Kylie Paige Saylor and three step great grandchildren, Anthony, Hailey and Matthew Myers. Gladys was also survived by a brother, Lester Boothe , 92 of Lottsburg, VA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years James Samuel Rogers in 1997.
Friends may visit on Friday January 4, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday January 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM, at the Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church, 921 Generals Highway Millersville, MD 21108. Interment will take place at the church cemetery, and a reception will follow at the educational building.
