Patricia Anderson

U.S. Veteran

Patricia Marguerite Anderson (Meyer) January 10, 1919 to September 6, 2012

Patricia M. Anderson died Thursday night at her home in Severna Park Maryland surrounded by her family and friends. She will be laid to rest on September 14 alone side her beloved husband Bob on what would have been his 91 birthday.

She was born in St. Lambert, Quebec, Canada (Patricia M. Meyer) while her father was an engineer working on the Canadian Railroad. She lived in Boston and several other places before settling down in Youngstown Ohio where she was raised and spent her formative years. She was one of five children and considered engineering while attending college at both Ohio State and Merci Hurst College before the outbreak of World War II.

She was a very patriotic individual and at the outbreak of the war joined the Navy and served her country as an aircraft mechanic throughout the war. She met her husband to be (James R. Anderson) while stationed in Hawaii at Barbers Point. At the conclusion of the war she returned home to Youngstown Ohio. Her husband to be who lived in Brooklyn, New York carried on their courtship for several years and on May 29th 1948 she was married to her partner in life.

They wasted no time and started their family right away and on May 26, 1949 James R. Anderson, Jr. was born. This was the first of ten children to be. She was the fuel that kept the family running. Keeping up with ten children, the food, the chores, the schedules, and care giving is more than most people could imagine. It was not easy but she was a worker and she just stuck to it and got it done.

While she will be missed by her family and friends, we know that she is in heaven with her husband and all her other loved ones who predeceased her waiting to greet us in the next life. We have been truly blessed to have such a wonderful woman in our lives.

She is survived by her sister, Isabel Furlong; her children, James R. Anderson, Jr. (Wife Carroll), Paul J. Anderson (Wife Jane), Barbara R. Anderson (Husband Bruce), David J. Anderson (Wife Maria), William J. Anderson (Wife Susan), Greg G. Anderson, Tim M. Anderson (Wife Kim), Jeffery M. Anderson (Wife Janet), John F. Anderson (Wife Dianne), Roger K. Anderson; as well as, 27 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 13th from 6-9 pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 14th at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
