Terry Wayne Davis died unexpectedly on January 28th. Born and raised in Maryland, Terry, early on, took on the responsibility of helping to raise his three younger brothers in the absence of his father. At the age of 16, Terry started full time employment to help support the family. Terry's mother, Alice Davis, states that Terry always gave the majority of his earnings to the family. She considered Terry the "root of the family." He would continue to be the stronghold of his family throughout his life.
In spite of not obtaining a formal education, Terry would assume leadership roles throughout his career. Starting literally from the ground up, paving major roadways in Maryland, he then moved on to the skies working for Piedmont Airlines and later US Airways. From baggage ramp worker to customer service manager, Terry modeled a strong work ethic, for which he was well known. Terry, always having a natural ability with computers, was hired by Verizon to help install a new network system at BWI. This experience led to an offer and promotion by Electronic Data Systems (EDS) to handle their network. When EDS faced financial troubles, massive layoffs left Terry unemployed. Nonetheless, the sum of his experiences helped him to land a position of warehouse manager at National Supply in Beltsville, MD.
Terry's personal life was as robust as his professional one. He had many passions: love of dogs, cars, wine, cooking, and his beloved New York Giants. He and his partner of 31 years, Eddie Lara, loved taking their dogs to the beach and camping in the Shenandoah.
Last year Terry took his first trip to Europe. At the invitation of his partner's Aunt Vilma, Terry and his partner's family took a nine day Mediterranean cruise that traveled to Italy, Croatia and Spain. Terry soaked in every moment. This trip has made happy and poignant memories for his partner and his family to cherish forever.
Terry is survived by his mother, Alice Mary Davis, and his brothers, Myron (and wife Stephanie) and Ron Davis. He has a niece, Seirra and a nephew, Jeremy who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his brother Edwin Miles Davis. He is also survived by his loving partner, Eddie Lara and Ed’s Mom, Sara Landa and her husband, Rigoberto Landa. Terry has left behind many friends who considered him family.
